Course Abstract
(3 Days)

Through a combination of instructor-led discussions and workshops this seminar will demonstrate the process of developing XML documents using IBM’s WebSphere® Studio Application Developer IDE.  The course will allow student’s to develop the knowledge and skills you need to build a Web application of moderate complexity using Extensible Markup Language (XML) technology.  This course will focus on; creation and validation of DTDs, XML documents and schemas, building JavaBeans from DTD or XML schema, XML document mappings, use of XSL stylesheets, relational table and DTD mappings and deployment issues.

Audience

System programmers, Java® application developers, programmers and other technical professionals that will be responsible for developing XML documents using IBM’s WebSphere® Studio Application Developer IDE.

Course Objectives

Upon conclusion participants will have acquired these skills:

• Understand the role of XML in web development

• Create valid XML documents

• Define the Document Object Model (DOM)

• Illustrate the role of DTDs (Document Type Definitions)

• Define the difference between HTML and XML

• Preparation of XML data on the client

• Depict the use schemas for data validation

• Structuring data using XML tags

• Illustrate the use of Element, Entity and Attribute Declarations

• Understand the use of Namespaces

• Discuss the usage of cascading style sheets (CSS)

• Explore the use of Xlinks
