WebLogicŪ Application Server Administration

Course Abstract
(4 Days)

This course utilizes a combination of instructor-led discussions and interactive workshops to provide the students with the requisite skills needed to install, configure and maintain the WebLogic Application Server environment.  Each student will acquire the following skills; defining virtual hosts, creating servlet engine configurations, define EJB containers, registering servlets and deploying of Enterprise JavaBeans.  Additionally, deployment to single and clustered configuration environments will be addressed.

Audience

Developers, Webmasters and System administrators that will need to install, configure, and maintain enterprise systems using the WebLogic Application Server.

Course Objectives

Upon conclusion participants will have acquired these skills:

  • Understand the capabilities of WebLogic Application Server

  • Install and configure environment for the WebLogic Application Server

  • Defining application server components to support systems; hosts, servlet engines, EJB containers and servlet registration

  • Understand how to deploy EJBs to the application server

  • Illustrate fault tolerance and load balancing concepts

  • Discussion of single vs. clustered environment

  • Illustrate the monitoring tools available

  • Learn to secure distributed web-based infrastructures

  • Demonstrate the role of security in application server area

  • Discuss the implementation of EJBs using EJS servers and containers

  • Understand EJB deployment strategies

  • Illustrate performance and tuning strategies

Prerequisites

Each student should have a thorough understanding of the Windows NT and WWW environments.  Additionally, basic Web server administration skills are assumed.
