Chet Seviola

Chet Seviola is the founder and President of Desktop Computing Services, a member of the I/S RESOURCE GROUP.  Chet’s consulting practice focuses on helping clients to migrate from old to new technologies by researching and recommending appropriate hardware, software and management strategies that improve services, control costs and reduce dependence on highly skilled labor.

Chet is an expert PC, Internet and LAN consultant and an accomplished manager.  He specializes in coordinating distributed computing infrastructure projects that combine mainframe, minicomputer, Internet/intranet/extranet, LAN and PC platforms.  He combines strong technical skills gained through extensive hands-on computing experience on a wide variety of hardware, operating systems and applications with managerial and leadership skills proven by results.  Over his nearly 30 years of leadership experience as an Air Force officer and a project manager, Chet has repeatedly demonstrated his abilities to make things happen on time and within budget and to build processes that work.

Recently, Chet assisted a Fortune 500 client to design and implement a Tivoli based international asset management system that combines vendor and corporate processes.  For this assignment, he built a certification/test lab and processes to introduce new technologies that enable “client-ocean-server” computing.

As an educator, Chet helps people learn new processes and technologies.  Chet serves as the principal author and instructor of an ongoing series of Infrastructure seminars designed to help I/T and business area staff transition to the new and evolving “pieces & parts & plumbing” that power business applications. His latest seminar, “eBusiness Business Infrastructure Principles”, anchors the I/S RESOURCE GROUP eBusiness Application Bootcamp™ curriculum.

Chet’s computing background includes management positions with the U.S. Air Force and a Fortune 100 manufacturing company.  Following assignments as a command and instructor pilot, Chet served as a Training Division Director and an Instructor Manager supervising the planning, implementation and delivery of technical training by more than 100 instructors.  As the Manager of End User Computing Services at the Toro Company, Chet supported end user computing, initiated strategies to cope with the explosive growth of microcomputers, built infrastructure to encourage and support self sufficient business users, and designed office automation strategies to migrate to LAN-based PCs.

Chet earned a BA in Liberals Arts from St. Thomas University and an MA in management from Webster University.  He is also a graduate of the USAF Air University academic Instructor School.  As an instructor in the Air Training Command, Chet taught electronics, microcomputer support and high-intensity technical and flight training. He has served on the faculty at numerous local and national conferences.
