Paul Jacobson Paul Jacobson is the President of the I/S RESOURCE GROUP and an evolving dinosaur. Over his 30+ year Information Services career as a practitioner, manager, consultant and educator, Paul has focused on using information systems technologies and applications systems to address business issues. Since 1989, he has concentrated on building the I/S RESOURCE GROUP, a consulting, education and training organization that assists I/S managers and practitioners to apply emerging information technologies and methodologies. Jacobson’s professional attention currently centers on helping clients plan and implement enterprise architectures and applications, including Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web Computing, n-tiered Distributed Architectures, BI/BA and BAM/BPM. He also invests much of his time developing education methods and conducting seminars that help I/S dinosaurs evolve. Mr. Jacobson's consulting practice focuses on defining information requirements, planning distributed application architectures, designing education and training programs, planning data architectures and designing decision support systems. Recent consulting assignments have included development and "reality checks" of I/S strategic plans, reviews of distributed computing architectures and application designs, an evaluation of a RAD methodology pilot implementation, and helping clients to plan I/S education and training programs. Complementing his consulting practice, Paul develops, directs and conducts an integrated curriculum of SOA/Web Services, Web Computing, Data Warehouse, methodology and modeling seminars offered throughout North America. He created the I/S Boot Camp™, Web Computing™ and eBusiness Boot Camp™ series of I/S technology and methodology concepts and principles introduction seminars. Prior to founding his company, Paul inaugurated the Information Center and Data Administration programs and managed the I/S Long-Range Planning process at Children's Hospital, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. Paul's previous experience includes management consulting with a Big 6 public accounting firm, IS management positions at two mid-western hospitals, a customer support role for a major software and services vendor and several information services specialties while serving seven years in the US. Air Force. Paul earned a BA in Administrative Management from Texas Lutheran College and an Executive MBA from Ohio University. He has developed and taught information systems, business and management classes as adjunct faculty at several colleges, most recently for the Otterbein College MBA program. Paul presents frequently at major conferences. His recent major speaking engagements include COMDEX and the keynote address at the International Function Point User’s Group (IFPUG) conference. He was an Advisory Board Member of the Learning Technology Conference (formerly Computer Training and Support Conference) and served on its faculty from its inception. He has also presented at the American Society for Training Development (ASTD) Technical Trainer’s Conference, at the Information Technology Training Conference (ITTC) and at the Information Technology Training Management (ITTM) conferences. In addition, Paul speaks frequently for local and regional professional societies.
